
Ron Stock, J.D., ICMA-CM, CPM
Senior Vice PresidentRon Stock has spent the last 34 years in high level management positions in local, state and federal government. He is very familiar with the Rocky Mountain Region having spent 22 of those years in Colorado (as the County Attorney in Adams County, a metro Denver county, City Attorney in Aspen, Sterling and Steamboat Springs, and City Manager in Craig and Lamar).
Ron brings a variety of talents and skills to our clients. He has the practical experience of serving as a County Manager, City Manager, and management consultant. As such, he has brings an understanding of the best practices in management and hands-on experience. In fact, he has taught system analysis, organizational performance improvement, and management theory in the Florida Certified Public Manager's Program of the Florida Center for Public Management at Florida State University. Finally, with his training in the law, he has helped our clients avoid legal quagmires and resolve some of the most complex legal issues in personnel.
Ron also has a keen eye for finding and developing management talent with leadership potential and has assisted in the recruitment and selection of the:
- Airport Manager of the Front Range Airport,
- Police Chief for Craig, Colorado,
- Police Chief for Lamar, Colorado,
- Police Chief and Deputy Police Chief of Leesburg, Florida,
- Four Deputy City Managers two of which were ultimately promoted to the position of City Manager.
In every position he has held, Ron has been a visionary and a change agent. His focus has been on (1) improving the professionalism of city staff, (2) emphasizing the need for effective project management and maintaining tight time lines, and (3) using his vision and strategic planning skills to assist elected bodies in setting the goals for the organization, for communicating those goals and objectives to the community and to staff, and to obtain staff buy-in and commitment.
Mr. Stock earned his Bachelor of Science degree in Mathematics from Southwest Minnesota State University and his Law degree as well as his Masters of Law Degree in Taxation from the University of Denver. He is a member of the International City/ County Management Association and holds the certification of Credentialed Manager. He is also a member of the Colorado City/County Manager's Association and served as President of the Colorado City Attorney's Section of the Colorado Municipal League. He is involved in his community as a member of the Board of Directors of the Kanza Society, a non-profit corporation that operates seven public radio stations in Texas, Oklahoma, Kansas and Colorado, and as a Director of Lamar (CO) Main Street Association.
