George Korthauer, M.P.A.

Experience

George Korthauer has had more than 30 years of local government experience in leadership roles with municipalities and special-purpose districts, as well as with a not-for-profit corporation and various professional and government-related associations.

After beginning his public service career in assistant administrator positions in Illinois with the Village of Glencoe and Bensenville Park District, George spent 25 years as City Manager in Petoskey, Michigan, and later served as City Manager at Oneonta, New York. He also worked as Chief Executive Officer of Allied EMS Systems, Inc., a regional, pre-hospital, emergency-medical services contractor to local governments in portions of five Michigan counties. In addition, he has served as an interim city manager, a search consultant for the Michigan Municipal League, and a member and officer of a variety of Michigan Municipal League and intergovernmental special-purpose authority boards.

George holds a Bachelor of Arts degree in Political Science from Western Illinois University and a Master of Public Administration degree from Roosevelt University in Chicago. He is a Life Member of the International City/County Management Association.
